Dolores J. (Cook) Cope, age 83, of Belle passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City with her family by her side.
She was born May 19, 1937, in Essex, Missouri, a daughter to the late Lee and Willene (Lizenbee) Garner.
In August of 1988 she was united in marriage to Billy Cook, they later divorced. On June 10, 2017 she married Dwayne Cope. Dwayne survives of their home near Belle.
Dolores was a long time member of the Koenig Methodist Church and attended school in Patton, Missouri. She retired from Kingsford Charcoal in 1999 after 22 years. Once retired, she worked for No Place Like Home part time and volunteered at C.A.S.
Dolores had been an area resident since the early 70’s and belonged to the 55 & Older club as well as the Odds & Ends Club. She was very social and loved spending time visiting with her many friends. Dolores liked to stay busy and was very hard working. She enjoyed bowling, playing games, growing flowers, mowing her grass and quilting. Dolores always looked forward to family reunions and loved helping others in need. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and will be missed greatly by them as well her many friends.
Dolores is survived by: her husband Dwayne Cope; six children, Mark Vaughn and his wife Regina of Bland, Ronnie Grindstaff of Fredricktown, MO Billy Grindstaff of Colony KS, Deborah Voss and her husband Scott Von of Goltry, Ok, Tina Palmer and her husband Frank of Ringwood, Ok, and Lori Lewis and her husband Thomas of Temple, GA; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild; and 1 brother, Dennis Garner of Flint, MI as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by one son, Rick Vaughn and one brother, Lee Oral Garner.
Visitation for Dolores will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Koenig Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Kevin Runge officiating. Interment will be in the Skaggs Chapel Cemetery.
