Florence "Jenny" G. Johnson

Florence Genevieve “Jenny” Johnson, nee’ Cook, of Holts Summit, Missouri, made her transition from this earth on Monday morning, July 13, 2026.

Jenny was born on October 27, 1942, in Kimmswick, Missouri, to parents Emory Walter and Nora May Cook.

Jenny Johnson enjoyed a life-long career as a laboratory technician specializing in hematology and histology. She expressed a keen interest in cytology. Jenny worked in hospital laboratories in Jefferson City, Missouri, Globe, Arizona, Columbia, Missouri, and Tucson, Arizona before retiring.

Additionally, Jenny was an accomplished artist with many of her paintings displayed in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and private homes. Along with her extremely wide-ranging love of music and the American Southwest, Jenny’s hobbies and interests included photography, archeology, travel, sewing, crochet, and cooking. Her ambrosia salad, brownies with walnuts or pecans, and Mexican food were particular family favorites.

Jenny was raised in the Lutheran faith. As an adult she was privately a deeply spiritual woman and a steadfast reader of The Daily Word. She attended a small variety of churches over her lifetime. Later in life her attendance included those on Zoom and the chapel at The Timbers assisted living facility in Holts Summit, Missouri.

Florence “Jenny” Johnson is survived by her daughter, Tanya Dawson, son-in-law, Kenneth Warner of Las Cruces, New Mexico; son, Reiley H. Dawsen, daughter-in law, Chucheep, and grandchildren, Jennifer and Joseph, of Peoria, Arizona; sister, Nancy Clark of Brinktown, Missouri; brother, Larry Cook and his wife Claudia of Holts Summit, Missouri; and a loving bounty of very close nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces throughout the United States whom she loved dearly and who loved her.
