Sarah E. West

Sarah E. West, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at her home in Belle, Missouri. She was a lifelong resident of the Belle area and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who cherished the time she spent with her family.

Sarah was born on December 13, 1935, in Belle, Missouri, to the late James Hull and Irene (Backues) Hull.

Sarah was a woman who found great joy in her family and the simple things she loved. She was very family-oriented and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place where family gathered, and she looked forward to hosting Christmas for her family each year. These gatherings created countless special memories that her family will cherish for years to come. Sarah also had a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Gracie, who was a cherished companion to her.

Sarah had a true green thumb and took great pride in her flowers and flower beds. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching them grow, bringing beauty to her home and yard. In her quieter moments, Sarah enjoyed watching Chicago P.D. and would occasionally settle in with a good book.

One of Sarah’s greatest talents was sewing. She loved creating clothes and was especially known for making clothing for American Girl dolls. Her creativity and willingness to sew for others extended well beyond dolls. On one memorable occasion, Sarah even made clothes for a lady’s pet monkey, a unique project that perfectly reflected her creativity and generous spirit. Sarah also attended the Church of Christ and held a quiet faith that was part of her life. Above all, she will be remembered for her love of family, her creativity, her green thumb, and the many memories she made with those she loved.

Surviving Sarah are her three children, Glenda Fisher of Owensville, Sarah Fogleman of Owensville, and Jim West of Owensville; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Roberta Hull of Union; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Hull and Irene (Backues) Hull; her brother, Jack Hull; her two daughters, Shirley Goggin and Suzie West; and three grandchildren, Mindi Foreman, Casey Ridenhour, and Matthew Fisher.

Funeral services for Sarah will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Sassmanns Chapel. An Interment will follow at Bethell Cemetery near Vienna.
