Michael Wayne Schorpp

Michael Wayne Schorpp, age 77, of Belle, passed away on August 18, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on January 24, 1949 in St. Louis, a son to Robert and the late Loretta (Risch) Schorpp. Robert survives of his home in Arizona. Michael was raised by his aunt and uncle, Tom and Arlene Strayhorn from a young age. They preceded him in death as well.

Michael attended school in St. Louis. He quit school to proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving the Bronze Star for meritorious service. In 1971, after returning from Vietnam, he received his G.E.D.

On July 18, 1979, he was united in marriage to Elaine Lynch by a judge in downtown St. Louis. Elaine survives of their home near Belle.

Michael had been employed by Local#27 Boilermakers International for almost 30 years before retirement. He was a welder by trade.

Michael and Elaine moved to the Belle area in 2005. He enjoyed working in his shop at home and was a bit of a “Mr. fix it” around the house. Michael loved being outdoors, fishing or hunting with regular or black powder guns and bows. He especially loved his annual hunting trips with friends to Colorado. He was a member of the gun club of Owensville. Michael liked to make jerky out of the venison and was excellent on the BBQ grill. His family loved his chicken. Other interests were watching westerns or sports. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinal and Kansas City Royals fan. Michael was kind and enjoyed helping out others who were in need. Above all, Michael loved time spent with his family and will be missed tremendously by them and all that knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Elaine, he is survived by: his father, Robert Schorpp of Arizona; a daughter, Virginia Cavender of Fenton; three grandchildren, Abigale Benjamin, and Zachary Kastner; three sisters, Susan Frankenfield of Arizona, Sharron David of St. Louis, and Bonnie Patton of St. Louis; one brother, Tom Strayhorn “Skeet” of Catawissa; a special Uncle, Johnny Aman who inspired Michaels hunting and fishing life; and three special cousins Kathleen Voss of Rolla, Mary Anne Wienstroer of St. Louis, and Jannette Anne St. Vrain of St. Louis as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In keeping with Michaels wishes, his body will be cremated and will be interred at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Michael Schorpp.
