Shannon H. Nelson

Shannon Heath Nelson of Belle, Missouri, passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 46. He was born on July 16, 1979, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Tom and Vicki (Gray) Nelson of Belle. On September 16, 2000, he married Lisa (Stewart) Nelson, and together they built a life and raised their two children, Drake and Deegan Nelson.

He was a 1997 graduate of Belle High School and went on to attend East Central College, where he earned an Associates Degree in Drafting and Design. He was employed with Kingsford in the maintenance department for the last 14 years and most recently became the proud owner of Next Door Designs with his wife Lisa.

Shannon was baptized on March 30, 1987, at First Christian Church in Belle, Missouri. Shannon was known for being generous, kind, hardworking, creative, and insanely talented. His talent for design started with cornhole boards and barn quilts, which later grew into designing shirts and other custom creations through Next Door Designs. He had a gift for taking an idea and turning it into something special.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, riding UTVs, and spending time with his family, friends, and farm animals. He loved being outdoors and made many memories with the people he cared about most.

Shannon was also very involved in his community. He served as an archery coach for 14 years, was a member of the Belle Fair Livestock Committee, supported Hawkeye 4-H, and was always willing to help with fundraisers and community events. He was the type of friend who would show up whenever someone needed him. He touched many lives within the Belle community and beyond.

He will be remembered for his big heart, strong work ethic, creativity, and the love he had for his family, friends, and community.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Nelson; their two sons, Drake and Deegan Nelson of Belle; his parents, Tom and Vicki Nelson of Belle; and his sister, Michele Barbarick and Vaughn of Linn; mother-in-law Mendy Becklenberg; brother-in-law Jeremy Stewart and Kelly of Belle; along with his nephew Chase Barbarick and wife Bethany, niece Arin Barbarick, nephew Brett Stewart, and niece Bailee Stewart; along with many extended family and friends.
