Mendy Sue Becklenberg, 71, of Belle, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026.
Mendy was born on June 21, 1955, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to the late Gerald and Gertrude (Hoppe) Sloan.
Mendy dedicated many years of service to Employment Security in Jefferson City before retiring. Beyond her career, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and tending to her flowers. Mendy was an exceptional cook who delighted in preparing meals for family and friends. One of her favorite traditions was spending Saturday mornings gathered around her kitchen table, sharing coffee, laughter, and stories with friends. Mendy will be remembered for her strength, kindness, sense of humor, and generous heart. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Mendy is survived by her son, Jeremy Stewart, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Stewart, along with their children, Brett Stewart and Bailee Stewart; her daughter, Lisa Nelson, and her children, Drake Nelson and Deegan Nelson; her brother, Steve Sloan, and Stacey; and her nieces, Lacey Welschmeyer and her husband, Jeremy, and Lydia Foster and her husband, Brian, along with their children, Olivia, Kinsley, and Oakley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Gertrude Sloan, and her favorite son-in-law, Shannon Nelson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sassmann's Chapel in Belle, Missouri, with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shannon Nelson Memorial Scholarship.
