Lenda (Basham) Buddemeyer

Lenda Basham Buddemeyer, age 75, of Union, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, in Union. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Lenda cherished her family and lived a life filled with strength, faith, adventure, and many special memories.

Lenda was born on May 12, 1951, in Belle, Missouri, to the late Fred J. Basham and Dorothy (Butler) Basham. On June 6, 1969, Lenda was united in marriage to Keith Buddemeyer, and together they shared many wonderful years of marriage and family life. She graduated from Belle High School in 1968.

After graduating in 1968 from Belle High School, she worked as a salesperson in a shoe store for three years before spending six years working in the shipping department at Wonder Maid. She was a hardworking woman who took pride in her work.

Lenda was a believer and was baptized at Belle Methodist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she carried that faith with her through the many challenges and blessings she experienced.

She was a strong and determined woman who faced life's challenges with courage. She had been a breast cancer fighter since the 1980s, showing the strength and perseverance that those who knew her admired so deeply. Through the years, she continued to enjoy life, make memories, and spend time with the people she loved.

Family was especially important to Lenda. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with those closest to her and treasured the memories they made together.

Lenda enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially shopping, beating her family in poker, traveling, and making memories along the way. She had an adventurous spirit and loved exploring new places, particularly when she could share those experiences with her girls on their cruises together. Her travels took her to many memorable destinations, including Italy, Rome, and Guatemala, and she always returned home with wonderful stories and experiences to share with her family.

She will be remembered for her strength, her adventurous spirit, her love of family, and the stories she shared from a life well lived. Her family will cherish the memories of the places she traveled, the adventures she experienced, and, most importantly, the time they shared together.

Lenda is survived by her husband, Keith Buddemeyer; her two sons, Eric Buddemeyer and Bryan

Buddemeyer; her grandchildren, Brittany Klenke, Austin Buddemeyer, Bree Adams, and Brylee Buddemeyer; her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Adams and Adalyn Atchley; her sister, Brenda Norfleet of Jefferson City; her brother, Bill Basham of Belle and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred J. Basham and Dorothy (Butler) Basham; her brothers, James Freddie Basham of Belle, Larry Basham of Silex, and Gary Basham of Belle; and her grandparents, Jack Butler, Julia Butler, and Elizabeth Basham.

Visitation for Lenda will be held Friday October 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Sassmanns Chapel in Belle,

A funeral service will be held Saturday October 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Sassmanns Chapel. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
