Gregory E. Garstang, formally of Belle, passed away December 29, 2019. Greg was the son of the late Dr. William and Carmel Garstang, lifelong residents of Belle.  Greg was born February 2, 1947, in Warrensburg. He was a 1965 graduate of Belle High School and 1970 graduate of the University of Missouri. Later, in 1974, he graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law. Greg had a long and prominent career as an attorney, specializing in gas and oil law. His career as an attorney lead him to live in Tulsa, Dallas, and Denver. At the time of his passing, he resided in Louisville, Kentucky.

Greg was an avid and very knowledgeable student of the game of baseball. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. In his youth, he was a very talented trumpet player, receiving high honors at various music competitions. Since his youth, he remained a huge fan of Elvis Presley. Two thrills of his life were seeing Elvis in concert and visiting Graceland.

On September 19, 1998, Greg married the love of his life, Bella. Greg was very supporting and loving of his stepchildren.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William and Carmel Garstang and his stepson, Todd Haggerty.

Greg is survived by his wife, Bella and stepdaughter, Carolyn Sipe, a sister, Tricia Phelps and husband, Randy of Republic, two brothers, Jim Garstang and wife Connie  of Branson and Dr. Dennis Garstang and wife, Mimi, of Kansas City, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Greg was loved and admired and will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy is his demeanor; we can all honor his memory by living life as he did, with positivity and humor.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle.

 Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Belle First Baptist Church with Robert Trigo officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.
