David Allen Grubbs

David Allen Grubbs, age 75, of Belle and formally of St. Louis passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla.

He was born February 16, 1945, in Hayti, a son to the late Alvia and Mellie (Wilkerson) Grubbs.

On October 31, 1987, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Valentine at the Tabernacle Baptist church in St. Louis by his father who was the preacher at that time. Suzanne and their granddaughters Hannah McKinney and Allyson Bartner survives of their home in Belle.

David retired from American National Can in St. Louis and Pevely after 25 years of service. David moved his family to the Belle area in 1995 from St. Louis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belle where he was active and sang in the choir.

David enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, and doing ancestry research which took him to many places and states. He loved to sing and was a self-taught guitar and piano player. David had a wonderful voice and sang with a trio from the church as well as a country-western group when he lived in St. Louis called the Gold Rush Band. He was a man that never knew a stranger and had made many friends through the years. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and anyone who knew and loved him.

David is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Suzanne; four daughters, Catherine Scott of Belle, Lorrie Stagner and her husband Matthew of Washington, Sherri Bartner of Ft. Madison, IA and Deborah Faulkner and her husband Rudy of St. Charles; one son, Bill Page and his wife Michelle of St. Charles; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Turner of Melber, KY, Mary Wood and her husband Tom of Belle, and Wanda Whitener and her husband Terry of Cornersville, TN; five brothers, Rev. Larry Grubbs and his wife Deborah of Conway, AK, Phillip Grubbs and his wife Denise of Pearland, Tx, Jerry Grubbs of Belle, Jackie Grubbs of Knoxville, TN and Billy Grubbs of Seattle, WA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends. 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvia Grubbs, Jr., James L. Grubbs, Tony Grubbs, and Gary Grubbs; two sisters, Catherine Grubbs and Martha Reynolds; one son, Stephen Page, one grandson, Phillip Faulkner, one nephew, Dewayne Grubbs; and one niece, Sheila Landing.

Private family services had been planned and a memorial service for David will take place at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
