Wilma Marie Jose of Bland, died Wednesday evening, July 21, 2010, in the St. Mary's hospital in Jefferson City at the age of 90. Wilma was born on August 2, 1919, in Bem. She is the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Huebner Kottwitz.
Surviving Wilma are three daughters Ilene Cantriel with her husband Denny of Belle, Darlene Skaggs with her husband Jerry of Jefferson City, and Willadeen Vandegriff with her husband Mack of Belle, and one son Wayne Nowack with his wife Kathy of Round Lake Beach, Illinois. Also surviving are two sisters Sandy Pointer and Frances Jost of Owensville and two brothers Chester Kottwitz of Linn and Vernon Kottwitz of Owensville. There are fifteen grand children and many great and great great grand children, nieces, and nephews, other family and friends.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband Russell "Sonny" Jose, a son Tom Nowack, a daughter Bernadine Barbero, a infant son Terry David, and two brothers Irvin and Everett Kottwitz.
Wilma and her family moved to Bland from High Gate in 1954. She worked for thirty years in the Belle and Bland shoe factories. Wilma was baptized as a child and was a member of the Zion Evangelical Free Church in Bland. A favorite pastime for Wilma was working in her garden, canning, and tending to her flowers.
Services for Wilma will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM from the Zion Evangelical Free Church. A visitation will be held in the Church beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday morning. Interment will be in the Bland Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Sassmann Funeral Service.
