Virgnia "Ginny" S. Lee

Virginia “Ginny” S. Lee, age 85, of Bland, passed away June 14, 2025 at Phelps Health in Rolla.

She was born on March 11, 1940, in Rolla, a daughter to the late Lloyd V. Hawkins and Ruby C. (Ammeman) Hawkins.

She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Belle where she taught Sunday school and helped out cooking and serving the meals. She also helped serve at the 55 and older club that met on Wednesdays at the community center.

On June 30, 1973 she was united in marriage to Delmer Eugene Lee. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1995.

Viginia was very active when she was younger. She enjoyed catfishing, gardening, and doing embroidery. Viginia babysat many, many children through the years and was known as a second “mom” and “grandmother” to those she cared for. Her faith in God was strong and she was a very giving person who enjoyed helping others. Viginia liked reading, doing word search books and watching her shows but her real joy was time spent with her family. Whether it was eating some of her son Johns BBQ or spoiling her grandchildren with treats, she was the happiest when with them. Virginia will be missed greatly by her family and those that knew and loved her.

Virginia is survived by: one son, John Trainor of Bland; three grandchildren, Justin Trainor and his wife Carlee of Vichy, Ashley Kottwitz and her significant other Kyle of Bland, and Jody Trainor and her significant other Shane of Bland; 15 great-grandchildren, Tegan, Chase, Lukas, Jase, Garit, Merek, Ezra, Grayson, Cyrus, Karson, Ayce, Kysen, Myla, Brannon, and Carter; and a brother, Virgil Hawkins and his wife Norma as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation for Virginia will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla.
