Sheila May Thomas, age 54, of Belle passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Sheila was born July 13, 1970, in Rolla, a daughter to Emory and Sharon (Carter) Hicks.
She was a 1988 graduate of Belle High School and a longtime member of Liberty Church of Christ. Sheila had been employed at Mace’s Supermarket for 19 years. She loved her job and made many friends working there through the years.
On July 27, 1990, she was united in marriage to Mike Thomas at the Liberty Church of Christ. Mike survives of their home near Belle.
Sheila enjoyed camping and spending time at the river, doing jig saw and word puzzles, watching Survivor and the Voice, and canning the vegetables that Mike grew in the garden. She was a great cook and loved making the food for many different events and she owned and operated Porky’z BBQ in Belle for a time. Sheila’s life was her family. She loved spending time with them whether it was family game night, playing in the swimming pool, the holidays, or just sitting around visiting, Sheila was selfless and always put others needs ahead of her own and she will be missed tremendously by her community, her family and anyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband Mike, Sheila is survived by: her mother, Sharon Hicks of Belle; three children, Leah Boyer and her husband Shane of Belle, Amber Peterson and her husband Jacob of Freeburg, and Jedidiah Thomas and his fiancé Emily Duesler of Bland; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, Kyndal Rae, Mackinley “Mac”, Jerico, Rhett, and Suttyn; one brother, Randy Hicks and his wife Dawn; and many extra “children” that she had collected through the years via her children as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Emory Hicks, one brother, Terry Hicks, one sister, Beth Mayes and grandparents Buel Edward and Mildred “Bill” Heyer.
Visitation for Sheila will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Liberty Church of Christ beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Sheila Thomas.
