Ruby Edrie Keeney of Belle died June 20, 2011 in Leslie, Mo. She was 98 years old. She was born on January 23, 1913 to the late A. J. and Mary Childers Strain in Franklin County, Missouri. She moved to Summerfield as a child where she met and married Boyd L. Keeney on February 23, 1930. To this union seven children were born.
Edrie is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd L. Keeney, two sons Bobby Keeney and Narvin Keeney, a daughter Iris Southard, a granddaughter Mary Lou Keeney, a grandson, David Keith Keeney, and two brothers Hadley Strain and Harold Strain.
Surviving Edrie is her son, Keith Keeney with wife Rose of Belle, a daughter Harriett Allen and husband Pete Martinez of Morrilton, Arkansas, a daughter Karen Fogelbach with her husband Mike of Beaufort, Mo., a son Gary Keeney with wife Caroline of Belle, 16 grandkids, numerous great grandkids and several great, great grandkids.
Edrie spent several years as a housewife. She was the secretary at Buck Elk Grade School until the one room school closed. She then went to work for the International Shoe Factory and worked there until she retired. She was very active in the church and always enjoyed going until her health started to fail.
Edrie, will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor and Christian. She never had harsh words to say of others or turned away anyone in need. She was a great housekeeper and a wonderful cook. Many people will especially remember her homemade chicken and dumplings. Edrie always enjoyed it when someone would stop by, sit, and visit for a while. Edrie spent many hours crocheting and made hundreds of afghans which she shared with her kids, grandkids, and many others. She will be warmly remembered, forever loved, and missed
