Roland J. Rogers, age 71, of Bland, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor.

Roland was born on February 16, 1945, in Bland, a son to the late Eugene and Ollie Rose (Thomas) Rogers.

He was a 1964 graduate of Bland High School. Following high school, Roland served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Roland was a member of the Bland First Baptist Church and had been employed as a welder for most of his life. He had worked for Freedom Products in Linn, Bull Moose in Gerald, and at the Callaway Nuclear Plant.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting and target shooting, reading books, photography, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Roland is survived by: one daughter, Jennifer Hoelscher and her husband Brian of Jefferson City; one son, Robert Lansford and his wife Tina of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Payton Branson, Megan Branson, Eric Branson, Elizabeth Carver, and Alicia Smith; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Rogers and his wife Vera of Bland; two sisters, Frances Slinkman and her husband R.K. of Belle and Cindy Bain and her husband John of Potosi; and his former wife, Barbara Rogers of Linn as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by two sisters, Shelia Litton and an infant sister, Ava Rogers.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Sassmann's Chapel in Bland. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Elmore officiating. Interment will be in Old Bland Cemetery with full Military Honors.
