In Loving Memory of Robert “Bert” Galloway. Bert Galloway, born on October 2, 1942, in Bryn Mawr, PA to Winton and Ellen Galloway, passed away peacefully at the youthful age of 83, surrounded by his loving family on March 21, 2026.
Bert spent his childhood years in Pennsylvania, cherishing the company of family, friends, and competing in all types of sports from football, to basketball and baseball. Following high school graduation in 1961, he dedicated four proud years in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Homestead, Florida until 1965. Upon his honorable discharge, he initially moved back to Philadelphia where he worked on the development of the first electronic computer at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bert later made Miami, Florida his home, where he raised his family and served the Miami-Dade community as a dedicated traffic engineer starting in 1971. His 27 years of service to Miami-Dade County were later honored when the day of his retirement was proclaimed "Robert Galloway Day." In 1992, Bert met and married his wife, Debbie, whom he loved and admired deeply. Together, Bert and Debbie shared not only a deep love for each other but also a passion for their family and socializing with friends.
Bert and Debbie ultimately retired in Lorida, Florida, a place they fell in love with and immediately called home. They embraced their new community wholeheartedly and became active members of various associations, such as the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Moose Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion. As a member and former president of The Friends of Istokpoga, Bert was committed to the environmental conservation of Lorida and its surrounding lakes. Bert was also a familiar face at local diners and watering holes, always ready with a warm smile and a listening ear. Known for his hosting skills, Bert loved entertaining guests at his residence and cherished evening walks around Lake Istokpoga, where he connected with neighbors and shared stories.
Family was at the center of Bert's joy; he delighted in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Bert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie, and survived by his adoring daughter, Debbi McVeigh (Shawn), and his devoted sons, Stephen Galloway (Rose) and Jonathan Morris (Belinda). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Kayla Llauger, Jordan Morris, Sidney Morris, Connor McVeigh, Ryan McVeigh, and Ivy Galloway; and his great-grandchildren, Christian, Aliyah, Kennedy, and Cali. Bert Galloway will forever be remembered for his loyal and dedicated work in the Lorida community, his warm friendship with neighbors, and his unwavering love for his family. Bert will be laid to rest at Howard Cemetery in Bland, Missouri. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
