Richard G. Schneider, age 76 of Bland, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

Richard was born on June 18, 1938, in St. Louis County, a son to the late Benjamin Bernard and Effie Ida (Michael) Schneider.

On April 5, 1985, he was united in marriage to Sharon D. Overstreet in Bland. She survives at their home in Bland where they spent 46 years together.

In his early years, Richard drove a Yellow Cab and was employed at General Motors in St. Louis. From 1961 to 1968, he was employed at St. Louis Carpenters Union. After leaving the Carpenters Union, Richard and Russell Krause started building pole barns around the Bland area using a boom truck.

Richard was a member of the Owensville Gun Club and Moose Lodge #878 in Owensville.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing along with farming. Richard was everyone's "go to" guy. He always had an answer. He was a kind hearted man willing to help anyone in need. Richard was a "body shop man" that could make anything shine like a silver dollar. Richard's office/hangout, was Hick's Tavern in Bland, where he would try to solve the world's problems with his friends.

In addition to his spouse of 46 years, Richard is survived by: two children with Sharon, Tammi Newbound and her husband Kirk of Bland, Tommy Overstreet-Schneider of Bland; two children from his previous marriage, Sue Schneider of Owensville and Kenny Schneider of St. Peters; a brother, Jacob David Schneider and his wife Connie of the State of Colorado; six grandchildren, Brooke Bacon, Benjamin Walter, Brian Doss, Cory Davidson, Megan Wood, and Mackenzie Wagner; and six great grandchildren with another due in April.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by: two children, Ben Schneider and Sandy Schneider; two grandchildren, Shawn Doss and Brittany Schneider; along with two infant sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Leduc Methodist Church near Bland with a memorial service to follow with Pastor Bruce Elmore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Richard G. Schneider.
