Peggy Lou (Young) Halbert, age 81, passed away December 25, 2025 at her residence. She was born June 9, 1944, in Bland, to Victor and Ella (VonBehrens) Young.

Peggy was united in marriage to Tommy Pendlelton in August 1961 and from this union was blessed with two children, a daughter Penny Renae and a son Bryan Lee. She was later united in marriage to Vince Halbert of Steelville in November 1974.

She started taking piano lessons at 8 years old from Irene Grossenheider. Around the age of 10 she was the pianist at the Bland Baptist Church and also for the men’s quartet which included her dad and uncle Claude, who sang at revivals around the area. She also played piano for her parents and another couple who sang at special events. She made her profession in Christ at the age of 9 and was baptized at the Bland Baptist Church.

Peggy was a 1962 graduate of Belle High School. After graduation she worked at a small grocery store in Belle for 12 years. During this time, she was also secretary and treasurer, organist/pianist at First Baptist Church in Belle, as well as organist/ pianist at the Faith Batist Church in Belle when it was organized in 1974.

In 1977, her husband taught her how to drive an eighteen-wheeler. She drove with him over the road for 32 years. She loved driving and seeing the United States and parts of southern Canada. She retired from trucking at the age of 65 in January 2009.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Victor on December 5, 1983; mother, Ella on August 3, 1994; sister Erline (Young) Robertson on July 31, 2013; and her brother-in-law Ernie Robertson August 5, 2002.

Peggy is survived by her children: Penny Burton of Belle; Bryan Pendleton (Amy) of Rolla; four grandchildren, Torrie Rhoads (Amos) of Belle, Brianna Livesay of Heavener, OK, Zachary Pendleton and Emily Pendleton of Rolla; four great-grandchildren, Quintin Reed (Partner Mattison) of Owensville, Kyrie , Carson, and Vada Rhoads of Belle; and great-great grandsons, Grayson Reed of Owensville and Crewe Louis Reed; nephew, Ed Robertson (Denise) of Owasso, OK; niece, Mary Ann Robertson of Jefferson City; two great-nephews and one great niece, two great-great nephews and one great great-niece; and several special cousins, extended family members and several friends.

Peggy never met a stranger, and she loved and cared deeply for everyone in her family and all her friends. She will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved her.

Visitation for Peggy will be on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Faith Baptist Church in Belle beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Koenig Church Cemetery.
