Maxine R. Travis

Maxine Rohrer Travis, 94, of Belle, went home to the Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016, after a short hospitalization in Jefferson City. She was the wife of Earl Travis of Belle who preceded her in death on August 31, 2004. Maxine was the daughter of Wilber and Gusta Rohrer and sister of Boyd Rohrer, all deceased. She is survived by her son, Kenton Earl Travis of Belle; her grandson, Sean Travis and his wife Jayme and her great grandchildren, Cooper and Josephine Travis all of Springfield, Missouri, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Maxine was a successful Agent and Manager. She worked in Chicago, Illinois, Cushing; Oklahoma; and Baker, Montana. Maxine and Earl returned to Belle in 1965. They purchased a Century Farm from her grandparents, Leatha and Henry Rohrer, where Earl farmed and Maxine served as Director of Family Services for Maries County, in Vienna.

During the years on the farm, Maxine turned it into a welcoming center for family activities and for all guests and friends even as she continued her full time work. Energetic, caring and loving, Maxine was a model for all who knew her especially for the many family members who will miss her presence very much.

Maxine was a member of the First Christian Church in Belle where services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends will be available on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from
5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sassmann's Chapel in Belle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a contribution to the Travis Cemetery Trust.

We love you Mom, Granny and Mac and we know your journey home will take you to the Lord and joy in eternity.
