Lori L. Harris

Lori L. Harris, age 56, of Mineola and formerly of Belle, passed away peacefully on June 15 2026, at her residence following a long battle with cancer.

Lori was born October 11, 1969, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Robert and Mary (Duke) Newbound.

She was a 1988 graduate of Belle High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Hannibal-LaGrange University and her masters from Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Lori went on to be a educator at Montgomery County RII. She adored her students and took a lot of joy in teaching them. Lori retired after 25 years and will be remembered fondly by her students and those she worked with.

On July 25, 1992, she was united in marriage to Matthew Harris at the First Baptist Church in Belle. Matthew survives of their home.

Lori was a member of the Mineola Baptist Church and was very active helping with the meals and at the church camp. She loved to cook and could make just about anything. Lori was a member of the Boone Lick Historical Association and the Boone Historical Society. She enjoyed reading, often 2-3 books a week and crocheting. Sometimes making baby blankets for friends. Lori loved taking trips to historical places with her family and spending time with them. Even through her health problems, Lori was always positive, cheerful and uplifting towards others. She will be missed tremendously by her family, friends and anyone who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband Matthew, Lori is survived by: one son, Cody Harris of Mineola; one daughter, Marissa Rolls and her husband Joshua of Forsyth.; one granddaughter, Evelyn Rolls; one sister Lisa Hedge of Belle; and one brother, Joe Newbound and his wife Taffi of Belle as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ron Newbound.

Visitation for Lori will be on Friday, June 19, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Belle from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with interment in the Campbell Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Loutre Valley Camp c/o the Mineola Baptist Church.
