Lillian Hassler of Cooper Hill passed away on Monday evening, April 2, 2012, in the St. Mary's hospital in Jefferson City. She was 93. Lillian was born on March 20, 1919, in Osage County. She is the daughter of the late Marcelus and Sophia Phelps Miller. On March 4, 1939, Lillian was married to Carl "Short" Hassler and to this union three children were born.
Surviving Lillian is a son Harlan with his wife Diann of Linn, a daughter Annetta Moreland of Vichy, and a daughter in law Belinda Hassler of Jefferson City. Also surviving are two brothers Bill Miller of Belle and James Miller Peth of St. Louis, and four sisters Rhoda Jett of Fenton, Lola Pearl Neudling of Eureka, Oneta Hassler of North Carolina, and Novella Delbruegge of High Ridge. There are nine grand children Monty, Kelly, Jeana, Kenny, Michelle, Kristan, Curt, Rick, and Sara, sixteen great grand children, and one great great grand child.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Carl, a son Kieth Hassler, and son in law Bob Moreland. Also preceding Lillian are two brothers Chesley and Cleo Miller and two sisters Ruth Vogt and Nola Youngman.
Lillian was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle. She enjoyed her friendships and was a friend to many. Lillian strived to be happy and shared her joy as she played the harmonica with the Porch Pickers. She will be missed.
