Liana Elaine Podhorn

Liana Elaine Podhorn, age 64, of Belle, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Liana was born August 25, 1959, in Jerseyville, Illinois and graduated in 1977 from Fort Zumwalt High School in St. Peters.

Liana lived for being a mother to not only her children but many other members of her family including neighbors and friends that came along through the years. She was passionate about cooking and enjoyed helping others learn to master the kitchen.  Liana always said “if you left her house hungry, it was your choice.”  Her signature spaghetti sauce was a beloved favorite.  Liana was artistic throughout her life.  She enjoyed painting, drawing, writing short stories, and decorating for holidays, fair floats and costumes.  Liana had a green thumb and loved to watch hummingbirds and butterflies zooming through her flowers. She was a great storyteller and enjoyed scaring the kids with her spooky ghost stories at family bon fires. In the later years of her life, you could find her enjoying the sunshine and listening to classic rock such as C.C.R. or Queen while grilling on the BBQ pit.  But her greatest joy came from time spent with family, especially the grandbabies.  She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends.

Liana is survived by: her husband, Paul Podhorn, Jr., of Belton Tx, three children, Renata Flake and her husband David of Summerville, GA, Rachael Conder and her husband Evan of Atlanta, GA, and Paul Podhorn, III and his wife Karen of Mosley, VA; and her grandbabies Evie, Owen, LP and Riggs and her sweet girls Jayci, Alysa, and Olivia. As well as her nieces and nephews, Jill Beckermann, Michael Green, Donald Green, Bradley Ludwig, and Cassie Ludwig; her mother Hazel Pearl (Butler) Green of Belle, MO; three brothers, Barry Green, John Green, and Ben Green; one sister, Anita Ludwig, as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin F. Green, and her best friend, Tammy Lincoln.
