Karen S. Lange

Karen S. Lange, age 86, of Belle passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Stonebridge of Owensville.

Karen was born on February 6, 1940, a daughter to the late Merle and Edith (McGonigle) Hawkins.

In June of 1962, Karen was united in marriage to James “Jim” Lange. From this union, four children were born. Jim preceded her in death on September 25, 2018.

Karen attended the Koenig Country Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She had been employed at Curtmans Grocery in Belle when she was younger and went on to work at Kingsford Charcoal for over 20 years. She later worked at Maces Supermarket for a time. She enjoyed sewing, baking, doing crosswords, riding four wheelers of the farm, and hunting for rocks. Above all, Karen loved spending time with her family. She will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved her.

Karen is survived by: four children, Chris Lange and his wife Dawn of Belle, Jeanette Lansford and her husband Darrell of Belle, Steve Lange and his wife Susan of Belle, and Jim Lange of Belle; eight grandchildren, Dylan Lange, Casey Stockton, Nathan Lansford, Drew Lansford, Jordan Lange. Jesse Lange, Talton Lange and Sydney Skiles; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Michael and her husband Bruce of Owensville and Mary Lou Hinton and her husband Sonny or Virginia; and three sisters-in law, Jo Roach, Mary Jane Hawkins, and Judy Lange as well as many extended family members and friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, parents Merle and Edith Hawkins, two brothers John and Charles Hawkins, a sister Marlene Smith and two brothers-in-law John Smith and Leon Lange.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Koenig Country Church. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery.
