John Lucious Baxter

John Lucious Baxter, Jr, age 86, of Bland, passed away, Monday, February 2, 2015 at his residence.

John was born on September 30, 1928, in Bland, a son to the late Joseph Lucious and Katherine Marie (Danuser) Baxter.

John attended the St. James School system. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.

John was of the Catholic faith and an active member of the Belle Masonic Lodge #373 as well as the Gasconade County Threshers Association. He was employed at the Chrysler plant in Fenton for a time before taking a job with the City of Bland where he worked for over 20 years. He retired in 2000.

John was a lifelong member of the Bland area. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical and was very meticulous in his work. John enjoyed watching the classic tractor shows on RFD-TV, loved anything John Deere and liked visiting with friends at the local cafAC.`s. He will be missed by those that knew him.

John is survived by three nephews, William Baxter of Oak Grove, David Baxter and his wife Alex of Los Angeles, and Bobby Baxter of Vienna; three niece's, Robin Baxter Teel and her husband Thomas of Fulton, Jean Hansen and her husband Corey of Kansas City and Kathleen Parker and her husband Luke of Union City, TN; numerous great-nieces and nephews; his good friend, Clayton Tandy of Bland as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by; three brothers, Robert Lee Baxter, Sr., Aaron Elton Baxter, and Nelson Richard Baxter.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Sassmann's Chapel in Bland. Funeral Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Fr. Gregory Tigga officiating. Interment will be held at St. Michaels Cemetery near Bland.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of John Lucious Baxter.
