Jerry L. Weller

Jerry L. Weller, age 83, of Belle passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at his residence.

Jerry was born on April 10, 1943, in Summerfield, a son to the late Sylvia (Weller) Picker. Pete Picker helped raise Jerry along with Sylvia.

Jerry was a lifelong area resident and a 1961 graduate of Belle High School after attending the Buck Elk School as a child. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1968.

On October 21, 1972 he was united in marriage to Debbie Butler. Debbie preceded him in death on November 25, 2018.

Jerry had been employed at Mo-Dot before retiring in 1998 after 30 years of employment. He started out as a Core Driller and worked his way up to Shop Foreman. Jerry was a hard worker in general, cutting wood as recently as last fall and helping his son, Jerry rake hay just last week. He was baptized at the Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints and his faith in God was strong.

Jerry loved playing horseshoes. He played in countless local and state tournaments and won more trophies than could be counted. Jerry was a member of the Quail Ridge Horseshoe Club in Wentzville as well as the Missouri Horse Pit Association and was proud to take 1st place in 2025 and of winning the 2012-2021 player of the decade award. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was always up for a road trip. Jerry was the biggest fan of Belle sports and attended all the games. He loved visiting with people around town and never met a stranger in his life. Above all, he enjoyed time with his special friends, Virgil McCowen and Robert Hoelscher and of course the special times with his family. Jerry will be missed greatly by his family and his community.

Jerry is survived by: two sons, Jerry Dean Weller and his wife, Natasha , and Curtis Weller and his wife Tori of Belle; grandchildren, Madison Hinson and her husband Tanner, Maycie Cobble and her husband Keagan, Austin Francis, Brantley Francis, Hadlee Poe, and Jessica Penfield; great-grandchildren, Weston Cobble, Mylee Hinson, Leia Hinson, and Ember Hinson; and one sister, Roena Branson as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his wife Debbie and his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a special cousin, Lyn Weller.
