Ida Viola Farris, age 79, of Sullivan and formerly of Union, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at her residence.

Viola was born on November 15, 1936, in Bland, a daughter to the late Cecil and Oma (Kinkead) Shockley.

She was 1954 graduate of Union High School.

On November 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Harvey Farris. From this union, two sons were born. Harvey survives of their home in Sullivan.

Viola was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church in Union and a former member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed antique shopping, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Viola is survived by: two sons, Randy Farris of Bourbon and Timothy Farris of Union; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Darrell and Leroy Shockley.

Graveside services for Viola will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Bland Union Cemetery near Bland.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
