Gloria Genevieve Rolwes, age 79, of Belle passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
Gloria was born December 17, 1940, in St. Louis, a daughter to the late Harry Emil and Margaret Lucille (Burch) Vierling.
She was a 1958 graduate of Mercy High School in St. Louis.
On April 16, 1963, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Rolwes at the courthouse in St. Louis.
Gloria had been an area resident since 1976 after moving from St. Louis and was a member of St. Alexanders Catholic Church in Belle.
Gloria was a homemaker and CEO of the household. It was a challenging job but one she loved doing. Gloria was strong in her faith to God, and spent a lot of time in prayer and reading prayer books. She enjoyed baking for church picnics and for her family and watching Jeopardy, and she loved dancing with her husband, Hank. Her greatest love came from spending time with her family. She will be missed greatly by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all that knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband of almost 57 years, Gloria is survived by: one son, Brett Rolwes and his wife Kathy of Belle; three daughters, Denene Axelrod and her husband John of Arnold, Denise Pack and her husband David of Jefferson City, and Diane Marquart and her husband Jim of Washington; 13 grandchildren, Jim Marquart, Tina Nieport, Tracy Bacott, Michelle Kempker, Jeffrey Marquart, Jessica Pack, Steven Pack, Julie Hammond, Samantha Axelrod, Joshua Axelrod, Cally Conyers, Emma “Andy” Rolwes, and Jacob Rolwes; 30 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert “Bob” Vierling as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dawn Gumpenberger, one infant granddaughter Madalynn Pack, and 7 siblings, Louise, Delores, Margie, Teresa, Harry, Bill, and Jim.
Private family services have been arranged and interment will be in the St. Michaels Cemetery near Bland.
