Douglas Lyle Pearson

Douglas Lyle Pearson of Red Bird, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, in the Gasconade Manor Nursing Home. Doug was born on September 22, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is the son of the late Norman and Minnie Badger Pearson. On December 13, 1958, Doug was married to Harriet Wilke. Together they cared for 13 foster children.
Doug and Harriet were partners in life. They worked together on many farm and construction projects. Doug and Harriet moved to the Bland area in the fall of 1962 when they became managers of the Elk Head Lodge. They were rarely apart. Doug worked for the Gasconade County Sheriff's Department from 1976 to 1999. He worked 15 years as a security guard at Peaceful Valley Lake. He and Harriet were founders of the Bourbeuse Township Neighborhood Watch. Doug served as a Marine during the Korean conflict.
Harriet proceded Doug in death in April of 2011. Also preceding Doug is a daughter Marie Pearson.
Doug is survived by a brother Floyd of Fresno, CA.
Services for Doug were held Saturday, December 29, 2012 from Peace Lutheran Church in Owensville, Mo. Interment was in Wilmot City Cemetery in Wilmot, South Dakota.
