Dorthy Erlene Mittelhauser

Dorothy Erlene Mittelhauser of Belle died Friday, September 4, 2009, in a Jefferson City hospital. She was 89. Dorothy was born on November 19, 1919, in Gasconade County. She is the last survivor of twelve children born to the late Frank and Ellen Hassler Phelps. Dorothy was married August 3, 1942, to Ernie Kenneth Mittelhauser and to this union two children were born.
Surviving Dorothy is a son John with his wife Peggy and a daughter Polly with her husband Jim Dawson all of Owensville. Also surviving is a special niece Leatha Hicks with her family of Belle. There are grand children, great grand children and families, Eric Mittelhauser with his friend Stacy and their family Cody and Samantha Miller; Chad Mittelhauser with his wife Jessica and their daughter Jordyn; Cheryl Warren with her husband Ken and their family Corey, Morgan, and Cassidy Prater; and Lori Vandegriff with her husband Gary and their daughter Haley.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Ernie who passed away December 22, 1990. Also preceding Dorothy are all of her sisters Chloe Woody, Maud Phelps, Myrtle Phelps, May Phelps, Ethel Gross, Grace Ulman, and brothers John, Roy, Jim, Troy, and Rolla Phelps.
Dorothy was a long time resident of Belle. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Belle.
