Donald O. Hassler

Donald Oliver Hassler, age 84, of Bland, passed away on June 1, 2026 at Phelps County Hospital in Rolla.

He was born on June 30, 1941, in Bland, a son to the late Forrest Raymond and Clara (Brandt) Hassler.

Don was a longtime area resident and a 1959 graduate of Bland High School.

Don had been employed as a prison guard in Jefferson City when he was younger and retired from Bull Moose in Gerald after 10 years. He was of the Baptist faith and had been attending the Bland Baptist Church. Don enjoyed attending the Bull Moose Lodge in Owensville as well as playing cards at the senior center there. He liked to fish and hunt when he was younger, was a longtime pool player and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Don loved to travel and took many bus trips and he visited many parts of the US. He will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved him.

Don is survived by: one brother, James Hassler and his wife Pete of Osage Beach as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Orville Hassler, Leoda Durbin, Juanita Wheeler, Shirley Jarvis, and Norma Dean Shanks.

Visitation for Don will be on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the College Hill Cemetery.
