Bernard Vandegriff Jr

Bernard Vandegriff, Jr., formerly of Belle died in his home in Rolla. He was pronounced dead by the coroner on Monday afternoon, August 10, 2009. Jay was born on October 10, 1936, in Paynesville, Missouri. He is the son of the late Bernard and Ruby Mae Gehlert Vandegriff.
Jay joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He served until 1967 when he received an early medical retirement. After his tour of duty in the military Jay received a degree in agriculture from Lincoln University.
Surviving Jay are two sons Kevin Vandegriff of Springfield and Jimmy Vandegriff of Lebanon, and two daughters Lisa Schulte and Sondra Ann Vandegriff both of Springfield. There are five grand children and two great grand children. Also surviving Jay are two sisters Dot Breckenridge of Indiana and Kay Martin of Manchester, MO, and four brothers Donald and Mack of Belle, Paul of Pacific, and Bill of Columbia.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents and two infant siblings
