Arvel D. "Sonny" Thompson

Arvel "Sonny" Thompson, age 79, of Belle died on October 8, 2013 at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville.

Arvel was born January 14, 1934, in Belle to the late Dollie (Litton) and Arvel Milton Thompson.

Arvel graduated from Belle High School in 1952.

On February 24, 1962, Arvel was united in marriage to Wilma Enke at the Evangelical Reform Church in Bland, Mo. Wilma survives of the home.

Arvel worked for the Kingsford Manufacturing Company for 28 years.

In his spare time, Arvel enjoyed horseback riding and driving a team of Percheron draft horses. His greatest joy was time spent with his granddaughter, Jackie.

In addition to his wife, Wilma, Arvel is survived by: two sons, Mike Thompson and his wife Ginger of Belle and Bryan Thompson of Belle; one grandchild, Jackie Thompson as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Arvel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marcelene Gooden.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.at Sassmann's Chapel in Belle. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Randy Carr officiating.

Interment will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville, Mo.
