Arthur Wayne Padgett, Sr.

Arthur Wayne Padgett, Sr., age 74, of Belle passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

Arthur was born November 15, 1946, in St. Louis County, a son to the late Kineth and Stella (Travis) Padgett.

On August 22, 1964, Arthur was united in marriage to Charlotte Thornsbrough in Tijuana, Mexico. Charlotte survives of their home near Belle.

Arthur had been a area resident for almost 40 years. He had been employed at the Brown Shoe Company and owned and operated Adams Upholstery Shop for over 20 years.  

Arthur was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved playing pool. He enjoyed a good western movie, listened to older country music and BBQing. Arthur was the rock of the Padgett family and would always be willing to help out others in need. It was a trait that he passed on to other members of his family. He will be missed greatly by his family and those that knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Charlotte of 56 years, Arthur is survived by: four children, Arthur Jr. and his wife Jeanette of Belle, Stella Mullersman and her husband Scott of Belle, Maggie Brooks and her husband Perri of Belle, and Adam and his wife Alsea of Belle; seven grandchildren, Dalton, Shelby, Ashton, Marcella, Terrack, Josiah, and Sally; two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Byron; one brother, George Padgett and his wife Linda of Owensville; two sisters, Dolly Baldwin and her husband Bill of Stockton and Barbara Williamson and her husband Tom of Sullivan as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his mother Stella and father, Kineth, Arthur was preceded in death by three brothers, Dave Fangers, Earl Fangers and Junior Padgett.

Visitation for Arthur will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Jimmy Hance officiating. Interment will be in the Skaggs Chapel Cemetery.
